Bayside City Council

Bayside Council Signage

When Bayside Council formed as the result of a merge of two local government areas, new signage was required to establish the Council’s new identity and role within the community. Council engaged Danthonia to supply and install ten monument gateway sign pylons at key locations on Council boundaries. The signs were carefully designed to capture the essence of the region. The main panels soar upward with a curved profile suggesting the white sails of vessels on Botany Bay, reflecting the colours of water and sky meeting the beach. The base of the sign acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, The Bidjigal Nation.

This structure is fabricated from Corten steel, a material that will continue to oxidise as it ages, giving it an increasingly ochre appearance to reflect the traditional colours of the Australian landscape. Since supplying the first gateway monuments, Danthonia has supplied and installed over 400 pre-designed signs for Bayside Council, including park signs, map/information signs, directional signs and town centre signs, as well as additional gateway signs.
